Longleaf Academy is a private school, new to the Sandhills area. At Longleaf Academy, we strive to develop the process of language learning, using techniques that are scientifically research-based. Our students learn and develop strategies that are best suited for their individual learning styles. Instructions to all elements of language are introduced systematically and in small units. Students learn new skills while maintaining and refining previously learned skills.
Longleaf Academy uses a variety of multi-sensory curriculum. Our curriculum follows the goals of the NC Standard Courses of Study, while maintaining the 12 essential points of instruction of the International Dyslexia Association.
Longleaf Academy and its teachers are dedicated to the success of their students; the betterment of their futures as lifelong learners; and to the philosophy that every child will succeed. Our mission is to empower students to become self-sufficient, intrinsic learners who are equipped with the ability to achieve academically, socially and emotionally.
Academic success is not only the responsibility of the student, but also the teacher. Children with learning differences need to learn "how to learn." It is our responsibility to guide the student toward success by using research-based curriculum, individualized instruction that is multi-sensory and scientifically sound, & systematic and cumulative. These principles enable achievement in the students we strive to empower!
